Wow, It Has Been a Long Time Since I Posted Last

I am sorry to say that I really lost track of this blog. Nature by Dawn, Inc. is still in business and it is growing. www.PetAutoSafety.com is doing well and so is www.AnimalFigurineStore.com. We also have a couple of blogs - www.PetAutoSafetyBlog.com and http://AmericanDogBlog/wordpress.com. Perhaps the increased business and keeping up with two other blogs is is why we have forgotten about this blog. Blogging about dogs is fun. Blogging about business is not so fun.

Ok, so what has changed with Nature by Dawn, Inc. since our last post in 2009? We are still members of the Better Business Bureau, we still have great products and service, and we still love dogs!

We have opened a few Amazon.com a-stores. If you haven't heard of Amazon.com a-stores, they are just basically mini Amazon.com sites which sell Amazon products. We ourselves don't sell the Amazon products, but we build our a-stores so that they are product specific and provide easier access for customers. For example, our Dog Lover's Bookstore is an Amazon.com a-store for books about dogs. I personally read these books then put book reviews on the http://AmericanDogBlog/wordpress.com blog. If someone wants to purchase the book, they just click the link to the Dog Lover's Bookstore and purchase it from the Amazon.com a-store. You could go to Amazon.com and do a search for the same book, but it's much easier to visit the Dog Lover's Bookstore. And since it is an Amazon.com site, you know it is safe and secure. Our other Amazon.com a-stores include Indestructible Dog Toys, Dog Training Supplies, and Outdoor Dog Gear.

We are doing more local pet events this year. We decided not to spend $400+ for a booth at the Kansas City Pet Expo this year but will do several smaller pet events instead. Our next pet event is Woofstock at La Zona Rosa sponsored by Northland Animal Welfare Society (NAWS) on May 1st. Our next pet event is the Mutt 'n Strut at Watson Park sponsored by the Lawrence Humane Society on May 7th. If you are in the Kansas City area, we hope to see you there!

Follow Up Regarding Visitor Creation and Design

Jerry Hildreth did not send me the information he said he was going to send. I have not heard back from him and now all contact numbers I have for him are disconneted. Should I be surprised?

I have no reason to believe that Mr. Hildreth is now trying to run a legitimate company. Like Stone Image and Design, I believe that Visitor Creation and Design has the same bad ownership/management and they may be running a fraud or scam.

After many calls and messages, the company owner finally called me back. He gave many reasons as to why it the sites he sold me did not make money. Perhaps those reasons are valid, but I can't be sure since I have found various reports from others which conflict his information. He seems willing to work with me on getting the situation resolved. However, there is a catch. I have to pay one year of monthly hosting fees which for some reason I was not charged in the past. Basically, I paid them $1,790 up front, then I was supposed to pay a monthly hosting fee. Now I recall a monthly hosting fee being spoke of when I initially bought the sites, but I am not currently finding it in my contract, and unitl last month, I have never been billed. I wouldn't purposely aviod paying any fees. I did recently moved, but I lived at my previous address for the entire 12 months I was supposed to be recieving service from them. But I never once got a bill until last month.

I can understand a need for hosting fees to be paid, but do I really want to pay them now and take the chance at losing $1,790 plus 12 months of hosting fees? I'm not sure. I have asked Mr. Hildreth for a written guarantee (which I also asked for several months ago) and for a new bill. I will look in my records again for a contract which states anything about hosting fees. If I can't find it, I will see if Mr. Hildreth can find it.

In the meantime, if you are considering doing business with Visitor Creation and Design, please put it off until this situation comes to a conclusion.

Follow Up on Fraud by Visitor Creation and Design

See my previous post about the company, Stone Image and Design. The company goes by a new name, Visitor Creation and Design. I have come in contact with other customers of Stone Image and Design and together we have confirmed that Jerry Hildreth, also known as Fred Jerald Hildreth, is committing fraud. If anyone from his company calls you, don't be fooled. He is going to take your money, make it look like he is doing something for a while, but in the end, you will get nothing and he will still have your money. Bob or Robert Browning is his new partner. It is not yet known whether Mr. Browning is aware that Mr. Hildreth is a fraud.

We Made a Bad Business Decision...

Last August, we elected to work with a business calling themselves Stone Image and Design. They offered to set up three informational sites about dogs for us. They did well in the beginning in keeping us informed about the status, but at some point, they stopped calling. We have left several messages but no one calls us back anymore.

Since we are working on getting our money back, we are doing a lot of research in locating this company and trying to call a number in which someone answers.

So far, we know that the company owner is Jerry or Jerald Hildreth. His company was also called Ace Promotions. You can find him by doing a Google Search on his name. His link is the one with LinkedIn. The company address at 2942 N. 24th St., Ste. 114, Phoenix, AZ 85016 is a "virtual" address. The company Executive Suites Plaza rents him the address and collects his mail for him, but Mr. Hildreth does not actually work with this company or even in this building. The website for Stone Image and Design has suddenly turned into a photography website, but the phone number on the site, (866)541-3541, is the same phone number as the web marketing company called Stone Image and Design. I was able to call that number earlier today, but now suddenly, I am not able to. It is a good thing I have Mr. Hildreth's direct number.

If anyone knows anything about this man or his fictitious company, please let us know by emailing us at animalfigstore@aol.com.

Our lesson has been learned. We now know to research a company before doing business with them. If you plan on working on the web, be sure to do research first. Google the company name and address, the CEOs name, find out how long the company has been in business, if the company located in the US, etc.

Metro Pet Magazine at Boat and RV Show in Kansas City

Metro Pet Magazine was at the Mid-America Boat and RV Show in Kansas City and Pet Auto Safety.com helped! The show was held at Bartle Hall in Downtown Kansas City on February 13-15, 2009. It will be held again this coming weekend at the same location, February 20-22, 2009. At the Mid-America Boat and RV Show, you will see actual boats and RVs, various vendors with boat and RV accessories, vendors for outdoor gear, interesting shows and demonstrations, and more!

Metro Pet Magazine had s booth there as well for those RV travelers who take their pets with them. Metro Pet handed out free January/February 2009 issues of their magazine and will be handing out more this coming weekend. Pet Auto Safety.com will be there to help.

New Pet Auto Safety Logo Featuring Maya

The company owner's dog, Maya, a yellow lab, was used to create the new Pet Auto Safety logo above. Time and time again, photos of Maya have been used to feature our dog seat belts or pose for our web sites. She is the dog on the top of our Pet Auto Safety Blog site, the dog featuring the black large dog seat belts, and she is the dog used in our magazine ads. And now she is the dog used to create our logo which will be featured on all our business correspondence for our Pet Auto Safety sites. We received a wonderful photo from one of our customers at PetAutoSafety.com. This customer purchased the Small/Medium Black Dog Car Seat Belt from our site in January. She saw that we had a Win a Free Dog Seat Belt pet photo contest for photos of dogs wearing our dog car seat belts. Pet Auto Safety.com is Being Updated

Good news for the 2008 business year . . . We learned that our PetAutoSafety.com site is our best site. So we are going to focus more on this site for 2009. We have already started a couple of projects.

Our first project was to fix the Other Pet Travel Products page. There were far too many products on this page so we took some products off and created a new page for them. We now have a page for Dog Seat Covers. We hope to have a bigger selection of seat cover soon, but the selection we have is still quite nice.

Our second project is still in progress but we hope to have it completed by the end of January. We are in the process of organizing our links page so that it is easier for our customers to find links to other pet items they wish to purchase. There were over 200 links on that page so we
have broken it down into 5 pages.

New Free Informational Website on Dogs

We are in the process of building a new informational website. This new website, titled Information on Dogs, will provide valuable and detailed information on the many different dog breeds in America. So far, we have only added the pages of the 7 AKC dog breed categories plus a miscellaneous category. The first category, Sporting Dogs, has general information on the characteristics of the sporting dog breeds. Soon we will be adding more information on all the dog breed groups and on the specific dog breeds. Periodically check us out and feel free to email us if you have any questions about dogs. New Products Added to Our Pet Auto Safety Website!

We have recently added some new products to our Pet Auto Safety website. The most exciting is the new dog seat belt car harness called the Tru-Fit Smart Harness. This dog car seat belt harness differs from the other ones we have on our site in that they have actually been safety tested. And instead of a strap which buckles directly into the seat belt receptacle, these new dog seat belt car harnesses loop around the seat belt of the car. Our other dog seat belt car harnesses by Guardian Gear are still being sold as we are confident of their safety and because some dog owners don't like loop system strap. In the loop system, your dog can't move around as much and if they do, they tend to get tangled in the seat belt of the car and the looped strap. So before you get a dog seat belt car harness, consider the mentality of your dog. If they are likely to hold still, get the new Tru-Fit Smart Harness. If they like to move around in the car, get the Guardian Gear dog seat belts.

The owner, Dawn Ross, has just signed up to be a certified pet trainer through the Animal Behavior College. They are the largest dog training school in the nation and recognized by the ASPCA, th Humane Society of the United States, the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and more! Dawn chose this company because they not only have a great reputation, but also because they offer a flexible training schedule and hands-on training in our own area. The program can take 6 months or more so look forward to our company having a certified pet trainer on staff!!

Creatures of Magic Website for Sale

We have decided to sell our Creatures Of Magic website. Why are we doing this? The main reason is because we have not been as focused on this site as we have been on our animal-related sites. We have thoroughly enjoyed our PetAutoSafety.com and PetAutoSafetyBlog.com sites and for 2009 we are going to create two new pet-related sites (to be discussed later). As a result of us not focusing on the Creatures Of Magic website, our ranking has gone from a PR3 to a PR1 over the past few months. Most of the hard work has already been done on this website. With the help of a fantasy lover enthusiest, it won't take much for it to be back up to a PR3. If you love dragons, fairies, and unicorns check out Creatures Of Magic website. Drawing George the Horse

The primary business owner is an artist and the NatureByDawn.com website is dedicated to her work. She has a new project in progress which is a commissioned work from her cousin. One of her cousins wants a picture drawn of a horse that belongs to her other cousin. The horse is named George and the picture is to be a gift. Generally, the artist posts her work in progress on the website but because this is a surprise gift, this is not going to happen. We will, however, post the finished piece on this site which her cousin knows nothing about. The photo of George is above. Isn't he handsome! Check in later for a picture of the finished art piece.

Pets for Life, Inc. - Pets Helping People

As representatives of PetAutoSafety.com, we had the honored priviledge of being invited to a Pets for Life party on Saturday, October 25th, 2008. We met a lot of great people and pet volunteers at this event. The volunteers for Pets for Life, Inc. visit people in hospitals, nursing homes, correctional facilities, special needs children, and shelters for domestic violence. Pets for Life is proof that animals help people in many ways. As quoted from the Pets for Life brochure, pets help "kids with a history of violence learn to treat animals and people with respect, withdrawn patients come on their own to join the activity, head injury patients open their eyes to focus on pets, and Alzheimer's patients calm down, speak more clearly in coherent sentences." Pets for Life services the Kansas City Metro Area. If you live in this area, check out their site at www.kcpetsforlife.com. If not, use Google to find an animal assisted therapy group near you. Visiting these people in need is a rewarding experience for both you and your pet. Some of our good friends volunteer at Pets for Life including Janet and her dog Brodie, Toni and her dog Bella, and Jane and her dog Kip.

Dogtober Fest 2008

Today at the Kemper Outdoor Education Center in Jackson County, Missouri we participated in the Dogtober Fest 2008 event. It was a day that every dog and dog lover who visited totally enjoyed. There were games, contests, demonstrations, drawings, adoptions, and the Tails for Trails Dog-Walk for Parks. Fun games that were played included "Bobbing for Biscuits", roll-over races, and the obstacle course (pictured above). Some of the contests were for "Best Kisser", "Tunnel of Terror", best trick, costume contest, and dog/owner look-a-likes. Demonstrations included search & rescue, water rescue, police dogs, sheep herding, and dock diving. There were hourly drawings for fun doggie prizes and a poop raffle. Several dog rescue groups brought their very special dogs who needed good and loving homes. But the Tails for the Trails Dog-Walk for Parks was the favorite activity of the day. The walk supported the Dogtober Fest and activities of the Kemper Outdoor Education Center.

Also at the event were several fabulous pet vendors including training groups such as the Sit Means Sit Dog Training, therapy dogs such as Pets-for-Life, groomers such as Brookside Barkery & Bath, pet service businesses such as the Blue Springs Animal Hospital, and dog supply retailers including PetAutoSafety.com and Pet Photography.

We had so much fun at this event that we will definitely be participating in it next year. Keep an eye on the Jackson County Parks and Recreation website to find out when next year's event will take place. My dog Maya in the car.

PetAutoSafety.com was inspired by my own dog who had a pet auto seat belt ever since she was a puppy. Before I had her, I also had other dogs that wore seat belts in the car. Ever since I saw that there were seat belts for dogs, I thought they were a spectacular idea. I have had dogs my entire life and I have experienced dog issues in the car. One time, before I knew about dog car seat belts, as I was driving down a gravel road my dog, Huckleberry Hound, saw some cows and decided to jump out of the car window to go after them. Even at 20mph, he hit the road hard and rolled several times. Luckily, he stood up just a little dazed and with only minor scrapes and bruises. Another time before I knew about dog car seat belts, I had another dog, Cheeba, riding in the front passenger-side seat. I was only driving on city streets so I wasn't going more than 45mph. But suddenly, someone cut in front of me so I slammed on my breaks. Cheeba hit the dash hard then fell on the floor. Luckily, she did not have any injuries. But she could have done some serious damage to her nose or broke a leg when she got tossed on the floor. And if I had hit that other car, the airbag on her side might have deployed, causing her some serious harm. Airbags are meant for adult people, not children or pets.

As a result of these experiences, the idea of starting a website to sell pet auto safety supplies greatly appealed to me. I wanted to get the word about pet auto safety and I wanted to offer a one site stop for all pet auto needs. So, I tried desperately to find a supplier. My site started out with one supplier who sold dog seat belts, pet safety seats, and car barriers. It turned out that selling the seat belts cost too much so a few months later, I searched for another supplier. I found a great supplier for inexpensive but wonderful seat belts for dogs. Unlike the seat belts from the other supplier, they had a strap that buckled directly into the seat belt receptacle. The old seat belts only had a loop in which the seat belt of the car went through. I found that my dog tended to get tangled up in this seat belt and she was very restricted in her movement. These new seat belts, however, allowed her a little bit more movement and she didn't get tangled up.

Later on as the site developed, I searched for other suppliers. In the past few months, my company has added the Extend-A-Seat, pet net barriers, vehicle door bibs, seat covers, pet travel bowls, dog car hammocks, truck tethers, and more! Not every product works for every dog, so the variety that we provide gives our customers a lot of great choices.

We have also added a feature to our site called "Pet Pals". This page shares some of the pets of our employees and our customers. This page is not yet as popular as we hoped, but as our customer-base increases, we hope that this page does to. We love dogs and would love to meet some of our customer's pets.

Starting this summer, we have also started participating in local pet events. We will blog about those later. By participating in these events, we spread the word about pet auto safety to our local community. Another thing I have done as the primary business owner, is I have added PetAutoSafety.com advertising to the back windshield of my car. Our company has also started placing ads in local pet magazines. Those magazines are Metro Pet and PawPrints. Both magazines are free. Metro Pet is only available to the KC Metro area where PawPrints is a little more wide-spread to the central and southern states. To spread the word about pet auto safety more nationally, and possibly even internationally, we have recently started a blog. Our blog, PetAutoSafetyBlog.com, posts information about not only pet auto safety, but also other pet issues and even training tips. Any visitor to the site is welcome to post a comment or even post their own blog on the site.

Due to our pet experience and great love for dogs, PetAutoSafety.com has become our most successful site. We are very proud of what we have done and we are extremely happy that we have spread the word about pet auto safety to so many people. Thank you for visiting!

Website Focus - Creaturs of Magic & Animal Figurine Store

The CreaturesOfMagic.com and AnimalFigurineStore.com sites were not published onto the web until January 2007. Before the sites were built, we knew we wanted to sell animal-related and/or fantasy-related products. And we were fortunate enough to find a supplier who had both in the form of figurines and home décor items. Therefore, we built these sites simultaneously and with much enthusiasm.

The main contributor to building the Creatures of Magic site loves the sci-fi/fantasy realm. She grew up with movies and television series like Conan the Barbarian, Labyrinth, Willow, Buck Rogers, Star Trek, and more. Today she loves Firefly/Serenity, Heroes, Ironman, and other sci-fi/fantasy movies and television series. She has participated in role-playing games and often visit’s the Renaissance Festivals in her area, especially the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. She is also a writer of fantasy, but has yet to publish her books. Some of her short stories can be read on the Stories and Books page of the Creatures of Magic site. Her plan is to someday expand this site into more fantasy-related items such as books, games, movies, and more. And she is planning on getting her books published and selling them mainly from this site. This site has grown a lot over the past almost two years. We have added other fantasy-related items from other manufacturers, including quality pewter figurines and swords and daggers. We are doing everything we can to get it to grow more. AnimalFigurineStore.com
Animal Figurine Store evolved from our love of animals. The main company owner, who is also the artist for the Nature by Dawn website, grew up visiting the wild. She has also worked with animals, including wild animals at Operation Wildlife (OWL) in Linwood, Kansas. The site started out with just the different animal figurines but has recently added a new feature called the Animal Feature. Every month or so, we add information on a specific animal and sometimes we even includes a story or poem about that animal. We have also added other animal figurines from other manufacturers such as most of the dog and cat figurines on the Dogs and Cats page and the miniature animal figurines on the Mini Figurines page. Our hope is to not only expand the site even more, but to inspire others to love animals as much as we do. We also hope that our company grows large enough that we can donate as a company to non-profit organizations like OWL, WWF, and humane societies. As of now, the IRS does not permit us to donate on behalf of the company, but we do donate to these organizations as individuals.

As you may have read in our very first blog, we are tossing around the idea of selling these two sites. Even though we love these sites and can provide some valuable information and/or entertainment to their visitors, we feel that our strongest and most knowledgeable area lies specifically with dogs. We still love dragons and fairies, eagles and wolves, but we really want to maximize our efforts and our benefit to society. So with much regret, we may eventually decide to sell CreaturesOfMagic.com and AnimalFigurineStore. Be assured that we will only sell these sites to someone who loves the sci-fi/fantasy world more than we do, or has more knowledge of animals and nature than we do. Only extreme dragon and fairy lovers or wild animal lovers can make these sites better and therefore, more valuable to the community.

Since this is a new blog, we need to bring you up to date on our business and our websites starting with NatureByDawn.com. NatureByDawn.com was the first website built in 2006 and began before the business was incorporated.

I am Dawn Ross and I built this website for my artwork of animals and nature. I have not only owned animals my entire life, but I have also drawn animals ever since I could remember. My first drawings were of Care Bears and unicorns which I sold to my friends and classmates for 10 cents each. I won a coloring contest with a local grocery store when I was in grade school.

My family recognized my talent when I was in grade school and bought me special art supplies and "how to draw" books. My grandmother, who painted spectacular oil paintings of nature, was my biggest supporter and my first art teacher. As a result of family support, I continued to draw throughout middle school and high school. Every year in high school, I took an art class. I do not remember my teacher from my freshman year, but my teacher for the the other three years of high school was Mrs. Carol Dolezal. Mrs. Dolezal was an excellent teacher who not only taught us about art, but also opened our minds to new techniques and art material. I did many high quality art pieces in those days, a few of which I still have today. I took some art in college as well, including digital art using PhotoPaint and Corel Draw. Those college art classes opened my mind even more.

Today, I have a fairly recognizable style. I generally like to use bright colors and my favorite medium is pastel. But I am open to many mediums and will sometimes alter my style as an inspiration from other artists. I prefer to draw animals and nature. Tigers and wolves are my favorite animals to draw. To me, they bring a feeling of awe, power, and majesty. Nature is my other favorite theme. I grew up with nature. My mom often took us camping to isolated areas along rivers and old logging trails in the Cascades of Oregon.

Nature by Dawn has long been my company name as a sole proprietor for selling my art. So in 2006 when I had the oportunity to build a website for my artwork, I immediately began building it under the name NatureByDawn.com. It was such an enjoyable experience that I decided to build websites for other things that I have a passion for - but that is another story. My art website opened the doors to other artists and other inspirations. I get several visitors a day, sell some art, and donate some art. My recent sale was a commissioned piece of "Charlie". My recent donation was of my dog Maya, titled "Sleeping Puppy". "Sleeping Puppy" was donated to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City for their Art Unleashed event. Art of animals was auctioned to the public and I am proud to say that "Sleeping Puppy" sold for $85.00. I also donated "Fire Spirit" to Field of Dreams Horse Rescue and Adoption.

Hi, my name is Dawn Ross. I started a web-based company in 2006 with four websites:

1) NatureByDawn.com for my nature and wildlife artwork,
2) AnimalFigurineStore.com for animal home decor and figurines,
3) CreaturesOfMagic.com for dragon and fairy figurines, and
4) PetAutoSafety.com for dog seat belts, pet car seats, and other pet auto supplies.

Our company received a lot of help in building these sites and they have grown tremendously over the past two years. Every site now has a Google page range of 2 or more. They are receiving hundreds of visitors per day and many sales. Several new features have been added to these sites over the past year including:
1) Artwork in Progress page on the NatureByDawn.com site,
2) Animal Feature page on the AnimalFigurineStore.com site which tells a story and provides information on several animals, and
3) PetAutoSafetyBlog.com site which provides not only pet auto safety information, but also pet information and tips in general.

Recently, our company has added three other pet informational sites:
1) emergencycarefordogs.info,
2) trainingtipsfordogs.info, and
3) dogautosafety.info.

Our company is proud of how these sites have progressed. And over the past couple years, we have realized that the pet-related sites are our specialty. This is because our staff has a lot of experience with pets and is happy to freely share that knowledge with the public. I, the primary company owner, used to work for an animal shelter, a boarding kennel, and a veterinary clinic. I have also volunteered for a humane society, animal rescue group, and a wildlife rescue group. I have owned dogs my entire life and currently have two dogs, Sephi and Maya.

We have recently been taking our pet auto safety products to public pet events in the Kansas City Metro area. There was the Suds-of-Fun event at the U-Wash Puppy place in Shawnee, Kansas, Tails-on-the-Trails event in Lenexa, Kansas, and Amanda's Dog Festival in Priarie Village, Kansas. We were very successful in getting people to think about safety for their pets and we were proud to be a part of events which helped animals.

We have had a lot of fun with these sites, but because of our dedication to helping animals the PetAutoSafety.com site has been the most rewarding. Therefore, we are considering selling our AnimalFigurineStore.com site and our CreatureOfMagic.com site and opening up new pet-related sites in 2009. This will be discussed further in future blogs.
